The ornamental crab apple blooms a day or two later than the Gravenstein, extending apple blossom season.

The only problem with apple blossoms is they don’t last. A good reason for a photo garden journal, but pics don’t capture the lovely scent.

The Erythronium dens-canis needs dividing. The pink ones are getting even more crowded. Lifting replanting them in the fall is the sensible solution. Alas, the dog-tooth violets shed their leaves in summer and disappear until the following Spring when there are even fewer of them…
